American Scar: Watch The New Yorker’s Border Wall Documentary

“Animals have been migrating through this route for tens of thousands of years,” said Wildlands Network Borderlands Program Coordinator Myles Traphagen. “If we cut off this population, we’re essentially altering the evolutionary history of North America.”

Myles, along with representatives from our partner organizations, Sky Island Alliance and Cuenco Los Ojos, and photojournalist John Kurc, was the subject of a recently-released film by The New Yorker, “American Scar.” Wildlands Network has been monitoring the impacts of the U.S.-Mexico border wall on wildlife populations and movement since its construction began during the Trump Administration. Our trail cameras and other on-the-ground research reveal the environmental devastation caused by the wall, and has allowed us to make recommendations on priority areas for restoration.
