Building Community

Thirty years ago, a small group of visionary conservationists gathered to discuss an ambitious idea: rewilding North America. Their leadership inspired the creation of a network of organizations across the continent committed to the same vision.

Today, we continue to grow, sustain and support this community so that all people can thrive in harmony with nature.

Government Agencies

We collaborate with local government and tribal agencies to develop and implement project plans. By gaining government support, we are able to realize long-term solutions.

Nonprofit Partners

We bring together nonprofit organizations to harness our collective actions and achieve our shared conservation goals. We understand that together, we can accomplish more.

Local Communities

We engage community members to understand local needs and gather community input. This ensures our conservation solutions gain broad local support.

Community Stories

Western New York Land Conservancy

Our Eastern Wildway vision provided the blueprint for the Western New York Land Conservancy's efforts to protect essential landscape links in the Allegany Mountains. The forest is home to some of the few surviving American Chestnut trees in the region and incredible wildlife. With support from Wildlands Network staff, Western New York Land Conservancy's work to establish a Western New York Wildway is a critical step toward realizing the vision of protected, connected habitats across North America.

Northwest Civil Society for Environmental Sustainability

We lead Northwest Civil Society for Environmental Sustainability (NOSSA), a coalition whose members are well-positioned to effect change towards more sustainable environmental policies in Mexico. Most recently, NOSSA has been striving to ensure Mexico's Natural Protected Areas have sufficient funding to support the diverse landscapes and wildlife they encompass.

Sageland Collaborative

In 1996, we served as the fiscal sponsor for Sageland Collaborative (formerly Wild Utah Project) during their inception. Now, the organization is thriving as the go-to nonprofit partner for state and federal agencies and nonprofits seeking reliable, research-backed data for regional ecosystems and wildlife.

Today, we are proud to have Sageland Collaborative serve as the technical experts on our groundbreaking assessment of wildlife habitat needs in the Canyonlands region of southern Utah.

We maintain a coalition of organizations in the United States unified around a vision of more significant federal investment to protect our shared natural heritage. Together, we develop and advocate for policy change in Washington, D.C. that will restore, reconnect and rewild America to benefit wildlife and future generations.
