Carnivore Restoration in the Northeastern U.S. and Southeastern Canada

The research described here seeks to develop a comprehensive analysis of habitat, population viability, and conservation needs for three focal carnivores in the Northern Appalachians region of the northeastern U.S. and southeastern Canada: American marten (Martes americana), lynx (Lynx canadensis), and eastern gray wolf (Canis lupus, or C. lycaon). All three species are considered threatened in portions of the region but differ in their basic habitat requirements and the factors responsible for their decline.
