5 Opportunities for Wildlife in 2023

At Wildlands Network, we have so much to look forward to in 2023.

We’ve already hit the ground running this year, celebrating the introduction of legislation across the United States that would allocate over $80 million for wildlife crossing projects to restore landscape connectivity.

We’re excited to share with you some of the foremost plans we have in the works for this year. Check out our top five below:

1) Advocating for government action

We’re providing hard data and science-based insights to decisionmakers in the U.S. and Mexico, casting light on pathways that will lead to sustainable, long-term conservation solutions.

2) Studying solar energy development’s impact on wildlife

We’ve been selected to receive a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to study how utility-scale solar energy systems could affect pronghorn and other wildlife in the Four Corners region.

3) Bolstering transboundary conservation

We will continue to convene diverse stakeholders to foster strategic partnerships in order to meet wildlife goals within communities and continent-wide.

4) Identifying priority locations for wildlife connectivity

We’re developing a map of priority projects across California, suggesting improvements to highways that will make an immediate difference for the state’s wildlife.

5) Protecting thick-billed parrots

We’re partnering with local communities in Chihuahua to better prepare for the upcoming dry season so that their forests, and the endangered parrots that inhabit them, are protected.

We look forward to sharing more updates about this innovative and exciting work.

Thank you to all of our generous donors who contributed to our 2022 year-end fundraising goal. If you’d like to join us in conserving wildlife and wild spaces we cherish in 2023, please consider making a tax-deductible donation.
