Greg Costello, J.D.
Senior Advisor

Greg advises program staff on conservation strategies, implementation and conservation policy throughout our North American programs.  He also lends his expertise as an environmental attorney to the Connectivity Policy Coalition, initiated by Wildlands Network in 2008.

Greg grew up exploring the woods of Pennsylvania. He studied biology at the University of Virginia, where he was first introduced to the biogeographical concepts that form the bedrock of Wildlands Network’s scientific approach. After college, he headed west to attend law school at the University of Colorado. Greg went on to pursue a 16-year career in environmental law before beginning his decade-long stint as Executive Director of the Western Environmental Law Center in Eugene, Oregon (during which he also taught classes at University of Oregon School of Law). Seeking a broader geographical focus and a more inclusive approach to conservation, Greg joined Wildlands Network in 2013.

Greg lives in Seattle with his wife, son, and two energetic English springer spaniels. He enjoys cycling, scuba diving, sea kayaking, and partaking in the region’s gastronomic delights.
