Roads & Raptors (and other wildlife, too!)

  • The Leonardo 209 East 500 South Salt Lake City, UT, 84111 United States (map)

With 40 million miles on planet Earth, roads have a significant impact on people and animals. While roads are vital to our society, they can also wreak havoc. Each day, a million animals are killed by cars in the United States alone. It’s a topic experts in the field of road ecology are seeking to quantify and mitigate, and it’s a story that award-winning author Ben Goldfarb shares in his latest book, Crossings.

Join HawkWatch International, Wildlands Network, and The Leonardo for a panel discussion with Goldfarb and local experts to learn more and snag your signed copy of the book—the night before it’s released to the public. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to meet an animal that has been directly impacted by vehicle collisions—Chrys, the Golden Eagle.

Panelists include:

  • Steve Slater, Director of Conservation Science for HawkWatch International

  • Katie Davis, Executive Director, Wildlands Network

  • Austin Green, Program Manager, Wasatch Wildlife Watch

  • Ben Goldfarb, Environmental Journalist and Author of Crossings
