Introduced in February 2019 by New Mexico Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich, Senate Bill 264 limits the border wall and provides that no federal funds may be used to design or construct any levee wall, steel bollard fence, or other wall within a unit of the “national wildlife refuge system, national wilderness preservation system, or wildlife corridor.”
This is a critical step forward for protecting our nation’s wildlife, especially those, like pronghorns and jaguars, who call both Mexico and the United States home. We have a duty to these wild creatures who cannot speak up for themselves to protect their inherent right to move freely across our national borders in response to climate change and in pursuit of the basic necessities to which all life on earth is entitled.
Please ask your senators to cosponsor SB264 TODAY.
Note: We need some basic information, including your address, to connect you with the senators who represent your area. Some senators may also require you to provide a phone number before contacting them. This particular call to action is only available to residents of the United States.
