President Trump has tried to cut lands from Bears Ears National Monument that include its densest concentration of archaeological sites, which provide an irreplaceable lens to the history of wildlife and migration in the Western Wildway, leaving those areas exposed to development, looting and other dangers. Under a proposed new plan, the sliver of Bears Ears still remaining is left similarly vulnerable. This is also a horrific insult to the local Navajo, Hopi, Ute Mountain Ute, Zuni and Ute Indian Tribe peoples who petitioned for protection of Bears Ears in the first place.
