New Federal Plan Could Mean the End of Red Wolves in NC

Local TV station WRAL in Raleigh, North Carolina interviewed our conservation scientist, Dr. Ron Sutherland, about the recent U.S. Fish and Wildlife decision to allow red wolves who wander onto private property to be shot, effectively allowing the extermination of the wild red wolf population.

“It hurts to think that 20 out of the 35 wolves we have left in the wild on planet Earth are going to be fair game for anybody to shoot,” [Dr. Ron Sutherland] said.
